Neurofeedback Brain Training

INTRODUCTION PROVIDED BY EEGSpectrum.com:

Neurofeedback is a technique in which we train the brain to help improve its ability to regulate all bodily functions and to take care of itself. When the brain is not functioning well, evidence of this often shows up in the EEG (Electroencephalogram). By challenging the brain, much as you challenge your body in physical exercise, we can help your brain learn to function better.

A better functioning brain can improve sleep patterns. When you sleep more efficiently, you are more alert during the day. It can help with anxiety and depression, and with syndromes like migraine or chronic pain. Secondly, it can be helpful in managing attention - how well you can persist even at a boring task. Thirdly, it can help you manage the emotions. Emotions may feel like the real you, but your brain has a lot to say about how you feel and react. If the emotions are out of control, that's trainable. If they aren't there---as in lack of empathy, for example---that, too, is trainable.

Finally, there are some specific issues where the EEG neurofeedback training can be helpful, such as in cases of seizures, traumatic brain injury, stroke, and autism. In these instances the training does not so much get rid of the problem as it simply organizes the brain to function better in the context of whatever injury or loss exists.

I have completed the EEG Spectrum Neurofeedback training (March 2009) and am improving my skills on a daily basis.

I am using basic neurofeedback skills and am still working with individuals who have mild to moderate issues.

Neurofeedback training is a powerful approach to helping people change the way their brains respond to various situations and I have been successful working with college students of various ages, addressing anxiety, depression, stress, memory, learning and retention abilities, as well as with focusing. Migraines have disappeared and anger has been reduced. Most of these occured in approximately 10-15 sessions.

If you are interested in learning more about this program, please call the number below

210-342-3816

There will be a charge for the initial consultation, assessment, and neurofeedback treatment.

Please note, not all individuals will be able to receive the training, due to the severity of the issue to be worked on and the clinician's skill level at the time of service.

There are many ways to approach various difficulties. They depend on the person, the situation, the personality, the hurdles/barriers, and the therapist as well.

Depending on what the situation is, what the client's preference is, and what the counselor's skill is, we decide upon the approach to use. Some of this is planned in detail, other times (actually most of the time) it is a matter of what feels right, seems right, or looks right at the time, is what will be done. The client is in charge and gets to decide. The counselor's role is to share her knowledge (education and experience) and be a part of the client's change.

As a trained and professional counselor, I offer counseling services using traditional and complementary approaches. Clients are seen as people with temporary challenges or obstacles.

Counseling is a special relationship between client and counselor. The main component is trust. Being able to learn about each other, knowing that the client's best interest is the counselor's primary concern, is beneficial for all the individuals involved.

During your initial consultation, we will discuss the different options, needs, goals, and plans. Call for an appointment, and see if this is what you would like to do.
